Boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis is currently preparing for his upcoming exhibition fight against Jake Paul, set for November 14 in Miami. However, his preparations have been overshadowed by serious legal allegations. A woman has filed a civil lawsuit against Davis, accusing him of multiple charges, including battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The lawsuit was submitted to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Miami-Dade County on Thursday, October 30, detailing an alleged incident that occurred on October 27 at Tootsie’s Cabaret, a Miami Gardens strip club where the plaintiff works as a VIP cocktail waitress. In the complaint, the woman asserts that Davis assaulted her in a manner described as choking, grabbing, pushing, and hitting her in the back of the head, after locating her in an upstairs VIP lounge.
The confrontation reportedly started around 4:15 a.m., when Davis allegedly seized her and dragged her through the club’s back areas and into the parking garage, subjecting her to further physical aggression. According to the complaint, the encounter left the woman feeling terrified, embarrassed, and humiliated in front of her colleagues.
The lawsuit reveals that the plaintiff and Davis had known each other since 2022 and had been in an intimate relationship for five months prior to this incident. During their relationship, the complaint claims that Davis had previously assaulted her on four occasions and even threatened her life in writing on two separate instances.
Calvin Ford, Davis’ trainer, responded to the lawsuit shortly after learning of it, calling the allegations “nonsense” and expressing a desire to understand the motivations behind the claims. He assured that Davis is in good spirits as he continues his training in Southwest Ranches, Florida.
It’s important to note that Davis has a history of legal issues, having previously faced arrests for violent behavior towards women. Notably, he was arrested on July 11 on charges of battery involving the mother of his two children, although those charges were eventually dropped when the complainant, along with another witness, opted not to cooperate with the investigation.
The plaintiff in this latest lawsuit is being represented by attorneys Richard C. Wolfe and Jeff Chukwuma, highlighting the seriousness with which she is pursuing her claims against the boxer. The outcome of this case will likely have significant implications for Davis, especially as he heads into a high-profile fight against Paul.
