Gervonta “Tank” Davis has been taken into police custody as of January 28, following an arrest warrant issued by the Miami Gardens Police Department two weeks prior. The charges against the 31-year-old boxer stem from an incident alleged to have occurred on October 27 at Tootsie’s Cabaret strip club, where a woman accused Davis of assaulting her while she was on duty.

Richard Wolfe, the attorney representing the woman, stated that she has filed both criminal charges and a civil lawsuit against Davis. The allegations include battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Emmanuel Jeanty, an official with the Miami Gardens Police Department, previously confirmed during a January 14 press conference that they were seeking Davis on charges of battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping. Jeanty noted that the police were collaborating with the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend the boxer, who had reportedly left Florida to return to Maryland.

Davis’s legal issues have already affected his professional commitments, leading to the cancellation of his highly anticipated fight against Jake Paul, originally set for November 14 in Miami.

Wolfe mentioned that he was informed of Davis’s arrest, which occurred at his Miami residence. He also disclosed that his client received an update from police about Davis’s custody, prompting her to reach out to her legal team.

During the January 14 press briefing, it was revealed that the woman had known Davis since 2022 and that they were in a relationship for five months, which ended a month prior to the alleged incident. The police have categorized the matter as one involving domestic violence, underscoring the serious nature of the allegations.

As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how it will impact Davis’s legal standing and boxing career moving forward.
