Georgia Woman Wins Refund From Truist Bank After Fraud Claim Denial

A Georgia woman has successfully recovered her money following a frustrating ordeal with Truist Bank regarding a denied bank fraud claim. The woman, Gail Bass, reached out to Channel 2 Action News for help after her initial claim was rejected, which left her feeling victimized not only by the fraudster but also by the bank itself.

Bass had reported unauthorized charges stemming from a $680 purchase made on StubHub for front row concert tickets to see Ice Cube at State Farm Arena. Insisting that she had never used StubHub, she acted quickly upon receiving a fraud alert text from Truist and contacted both the bank and the ticketing company to dispute the charge.

Despite her prompt actions, she was shocked to find a letter from Truist stating that her claim had been denied, and suggesting that she was possibly experiencing buyer’s remorse or attempting to defraud the bank herself. This unfounded accusation was based on an internal investigation that incorrectly linked the purchase to Bass’s prior transaction history.

Feeling unfairly accused, Bass sought further clarification from Truist, which then provided her with an investigative report that perpetuated the misconception of her being responsible for the transaction. “I have enough money in my account that if I wanted to buy concert tickets, I don’t have to get Truist to pay for them,” Bass responded indignantly.

After several months of attempts to resolve the issue, she turned to consumer investigator Justin Gray for assistance. Following Gray’s inquiry, Truist Bank promptly contacted Bass to inform her that they would be refunding her money, marking a positive outcome after her long struggle.

Truist has confirmed that the matter is now resolved, providing a sense of relief for Bass. This case highlights the importance of vigilance over bank transactions and the necessity for financial institutions to handle disputes with greater care and accountability.
