Recently, recruitment flyers with a provocative slogan, “Hey, fascist! Catch!”, have been found on the campus of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. These flyers have been linked to a left-wing gun club promoting its activities. The slogan replicates one found on a bullet casing associated with Tyler Robinson, the alleged shooter of Charlie Kirk, prompting concerns about their intent.

The posters further claim to be from a political group that celebrates the defeat of Nazis, urging people to join the “John Brown Club.” The flyers include a QR code directing individuals to a contact form, suggesting an interest in genuine community change beyond ceremonial gestures.

This discovery has stirred apprehension among students, including Shae McInnis, who expressed his shock and interpreted the messages as threats, particularly resonant due to the association with Charlie Kirk’s assassination. The flyers have since been removed, with Georgetown University emphasizing its zero tolerance for threats and violence while investigating the incident.

The John Brown Gun Club, identified in various chapters across the U.S., is a leftist gun-rights group originally from Kansas. The organization has drawn attention for its actions and historical namesake, John Brown, an American abolitionist known for his opposition to slavery and involvement in armed insurrections, including the infamous raid on a federal armory in Virginia.

Incidents related to the club have previously involved violent confrontations, such as the 2020 attack on an ICE detention center by Willem van Spronsen, a member of the Puget Sound chapter, which resulted in his death.

While the club’s advocacy and radical stance on gun rights and anti-fascism remain contentious, Georgetown University is focused on maintaining safety and order on its campus, underscoring the broader societal need for dialogue over violence. The Independent continues to monitor these developments, reaching out to the John Brown Club for comments to provide further insights into this unfolding story.
