Maxwell Frost, the first member of Generation Z elected to Congress, is scheduled to address the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Thursday night, which marks the last evening of the event’s programming.

At just 27 years old, Frost has represented Florida’s 10th district since he took office last year. Before his congressional role, he worked as the National Organizing Director for March for Our Lives, a group founded in response to the tragic Parkland school shooting that claimed 17 lives, with a mission to combat gun violence.

In a recent interview with NPR’s Brittany Luse, Frost discussed the challenges he faces as a young politician, noting that ageism in Congress is often subtle. He mentioned, “Most of the time when I face ageism…it’s going to be implicit,” rather than overt criticism.

Frost has grown accustomed to being the youngest person in various roles throughout his career.

In 2022, he gained attention for sharing his experience of being denied a rental apartment in Washington, D.C. due to poor credit, highlighting the financial barriers many young people face. He tweeted, “Just applied to an apartment in DC where I told the guy that my credit was really bad. He said I’d be fine. Got denied, lost the apartment, and the application fee. This ain’t meant for people who don’t already have money.”

Before entering Congress, Frost worked as an Uber driver.
