Garth Brooks is facing serious accusations of sexual assault and battery in a lawsuit filed in California state court. The 27-page legal action reveals that the plaintiff, identified by the pseudonym “Jane Roe,” alleges she was groped and subjected to inappropriate comments during her time as a hairstylist and makeup artist for the country music star from 2017 to 2020.
According to the lawsuit, in May 2019, Brooks invited the woman to join him on his private jet for a Grammy tribute in Los Angeles. Upon arriving at their hotel, Brooks reportedly only booked a single bedroom suite for both of them to share. The lawsuit claims that once inside the suite, Brooks appeared naked at the bedroom doorway and proceeded to assault her.
Post-incident, the lawsuit states that Brooks continued to make unwanted sexual advances, compelling the plaintiff to touch him inappropriately and share sexual fantasies. The suit also mentions that Brooks suggested having a threesome with his wife, fellow country star Trisha Yearwood.
In a statement addressing the allegations, Brooks called the lawsuit “extortion and defamation.” He claimed he had been pressured with threats and falsehoods, likening the experience to having a “loaded gun waved in my face.” He firmly denied the accusations and described them as “revolting and untrue,” asserting that they were aimed at damaging his reputation and career.
The lawsuit comes after Brooks’ legal team filed a response in Mississippi federal court denying any wrongdoing, which they claim was prompted by Jane Roe’s request for employment and benefits that he declined. Brooks emphasized his desire to continue his musical career and his philanthropic efforts, expressing heartbreak over the damage to his reputation.
Garth Brooks is an acclaimed artist with a massive following, having sold over 162 million albums and earned multiple Grammy Awards. His philanthropic efforts focus on aiding children and providing relief in the wake of natural disasters.
