Country music icon Garth Brooks is facing allegations of sexual assault and battery in a lawsuit filed by an unnamed plaintiff who claims she worked as his hairstylist and makeup artist. The lawsuit, submitted in California state court, alleges that the incidents occurred in 2019, including an accusation that Brooks raped her during a work trip.
In a statement, Brooks said he has been subjected to ongoing harassment, threats, and fabrications about his character. He expressed that paying “hush money” would imply an admission of guilt to acts he vehemently denies. Brooks also noted that he filed a lawsuit against the accuser nearly a month ago to combat extortion and protect his reputation, doing so anonymously to safeguard both families involved.
According to the lawsuit, Roe began working with Brooks in 2017, although she had previously provided services for his wife, Trisha Yearwood, since 1999. Brooks had previously sought to prevent Roe from reiterating her allegations in a separate complaint as “John Doe.”
Roe’s attorney responded to Brooks’ comments, stating that discussions about a settlement are confidential, but refuting Brooks’ claims about being unwilling to pay, asserting confidence in their case.
The lawsuit details multiple allegations against Brooks, including inappropriate exposure and suggestive conversations, as well as explicit text messages. The plaintiff recounts a specific incident in which Brooks allegedly forced her hands onto his genitals after emerging from the shower, as well as another instance where he is accused of raping her in a hotel room during a trip to Los Angeles.
Roe claims that the setting was troubling, as she was alone with Brooks in a hotel suite that lacked separate accommodations. Following the alleged assault, she asserts that Brooks continued to make sexual advances towards her.
In his prior legal action, Brooks argued the accusations were false and stated that such damaging allegations threaten his reputation and family life. Roe’s legal team characterized Brooks’ earlier lawsuit as a desperate attempt to intimidate their client, expressing confidence that he will be held accountable for his alleged actions.
