Garrett Crochet has been selected for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game roster, marking a significant milestone in his career. At just 26 years old, Crochet boasts an impressive 2.39 ERA over his first 19 starts with the Boston Red Sox, emerging as the team’s top pitcher.
Crochet’s previous All-Star experience came in 2024 while he was with the Chicago White Sox, where he was the sole representative for his team due to that year’s requirement for every franchise to have at least one player in the event. During that season, he recorded a strong 3.02 ERA in his initial 20 starts. However, this year’s selection feels even more rewarding as he joins two of his current teammates, Alex Bregman and Aroldis Chapman, as the trio represents the Red Sox in the Midsummer Classic.
“Last year, not that I didn’t feel like I deserved it, but the rules are a little bit different now where every team has got to have a rep,” Crochet reflected. “To be one of three from our team representing the Red Sox, it’s a special feeling.”
Crochet’s journey to this All-Star appearance began with a trade from the White Sox to the Red Sox during the 2024 Winter Meetings, which involved Boston sending several top minor league prospects, including Kyle Teel and Braden Montgomery. Following the trade, the Red Sox secured him with a six-year contract extension worth $170 million, underscoring their confidence in his abilities.
Culminating this progression, Crochet expressed his desire to make a positive impact: “It’s just making a good impression. Obviously, the trade and extension and everything. To be in the first, I don’t know, 5% of the total (Red Sox tenure), it’s starting to prove the worth of it already. Just really excited to represent the team.”
