Gamescom, the largest video game event in Europe, is set to take place in Cologne, Germany from August 20 to 24. This highly anticipated gathering will bring together gamers, studios, industry experts, and journalists who are eager to explore the latest in gaming.
While E3 has long been a staple in the United States, it has never matched the scale of Gamescom, which has established itself as one of the most significant gaming events globally, especially now that E3 has been discontinued. Following June’s Summer Game Fest, Gamescom stands as one of the final opportunities in 2024 to preview upcoming titles slated for release later this year and into 2025.
Last year, Gamescom attracted around 320,000 attendees, with many participants being fans eager to try out games showcased by developers ranging from solo indie creators to major publishers.
CNET will be present at Gamescom to cover a multitude of new releases, while fans can also look forward to presentations like Opening Night Live. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, who leads many games industry events, this trailer showcase is already set to feature several anticipated titles including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Dune: Awakening.
Opening Night Live, scheduled for August 20, kicks off a series of events for Gamescom. It starts at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CEST at the Koelnmesse convention center in Cologne, with a preshow beginning half an hour earlier.
Those unable to attend in person can watch Opening Night Live on Gamescom’s official website, via YouTube livestream, or on Geoff Keighley’s Twitch account, which serves The Game Awards. For viewers who miss the broadcast, a written live blog will provide updates on all the new trailers as they debut.
Several titles have already been confirmed for the Opening Night Live showcase, including:
– Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
– Monster Hunter Wilds
– Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
– Little Nightmares 3
– Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
