COLUMBIA — South Carolina football faced a tough loss against No. 11 Ole Miss on Saturday, suffering a 27-3 defeat marked by a series of missed opportunities and penalties.

The Gamecocks (3-2, 2-1 SEC) were unable to score a touchdown for the first time since 2021, while the Rebels (5-1, 1-1 SEC) secured their first conference win. Despite quarterback LaNorris Sellers returning to the field, South Carolina managed just 162 passing yards and 145 rushing yards, while their defense allowed 425 total yards.

In the game, Sellers threw an interception in the end zone, ending a potential scoring drive for the Gamecocks. The highlights included a 44-yard field goal and a fumble by Juice Wells in the end zone, which was ruled a touchback, reflecting a lack of execution.

South Carolina’s offense showed some improvement after halftime, but an early missed field goal and a failure to capitalize on key moments helped Ole Miss maintain control throughout the game. The Rebels took the lead early, scoring several touchdowns off turnovers and capitalizing on favorable field position.

The halftime score was 24-3, with Ole Miss increasing the gap as the Gamecocks struggled to find rhythm on either side of the ball. South Carolina’s upcoming schedule includes tough matchups, giving them little time to regroup before facing Alabama next week.
