Gamecocks seek to snap skid against No. 7 Ole Miss

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Gamecocks are set to face off against No. 7 Ole Miss on Saturday as they look to break a mid-season slump. The highly anticipated game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast live on ESPN and the Gamecock Sports Network.

Fans should be aware that, as of Saturday morning, YouTube TV customers may experience disruptions to their service after Disney removed its channels, including ESPN, due to a failed carriage agreement. Ongoing negotiations have not provided clarity regarding the channels’ return by kickoff time.

The Gamecocks enter the matchup with a challenging 3-5 overall record and 1-5 within the SEC, having lost their last three games, including a 29-22 defeat to No. 4 Alabama last week. In contrast, Ole Miss boasts an impressive 7-1 record, recently securing a victory against No. 18 Oklahoma.

This Saturday’s challenge marks the fourth consecutive week that South Carolina has faced a top-15 opponent, making their schedule particularly demanding. They will look to regroup before taking a bye week and then heading to face No. 3 Texas A&M on November 15.

Historically, November has been a favorable month for head coach Shane Beamer, who has led the Gamecocks to a strong 13-4 record in November since 2021. Specifically, his teams have thrived against ranked opponents, securing a perfect 6-0 record.

The upcoming game will be the 19th meeting between South Carolina and Ole Miss, with the Rebels leading the series 10-8. The last time the Gamecocks played in Oxford was in 2020.

As the Gamecocks prepare for this critical matchup, fans remain hopeful that a resurgence this November will help revitalize their season.
