The Sooner Dojo Series is set to launch in the fall of 2024, coinciding with the upcoming college football season. Taking place every Friday before home games for the University of Oklahoma (OU) Football team, this pay-to-enter fan tournament aims to engage the community as OU transitions into its first semester in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Fans can look forward to participating in competitive gaming as EA Sports has recently released a highly anticipated football game.
During the initial games before the matchup against Tennessee, the tournaments will primarily feature OU students and fans. From Tennessee onward, there will be a more aggressive marketing effort to attract various fan bases, fostering friendly competition in OU vs. Guest brackets to determine the best fans in College Football 25 (CFB25) before the game that Saturday.
Currently, there are no pre-registration options available; participants can arrive, pay their entry fee, and compete. The entry fees vary based on the game weekend. For the Tulane Game Weekend on September 14, the fees will be $5 for the venue and $5 for the bracket prize pot. For the Tennessee Game Weekend and subsequent weekends starting September 20, the fees will increase to $10 each for the venue and bracket.
The tournament will be managed by Jonathan “JTran” Tran, and it is open to ages 13 and older, with younger attendees welcome to watch. Participants can pay using cash or major credit cards, and there may be occasional bonus prizes thanks to sponsors. Regular updates and information will be available through the OU Gaming Club.
Technical aspects of the tournament include access to multiple gaming consoles, with opportunities for bringing personal controllers. Split-screen and online multiplayer modes will be employed to ensure efficient event progression.
Minors are allowed to participate but must bring a signed permission form, which is required annually. K-12 school programs are encouraged to contact the OU esports team ahead of time to ensure all necessary documents and protections are in place.
For additional details, more information can be found on the OU Gaming Club’s events page.
