Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have unveiled their highly anticipated duet, “Die with a Smile,” which has captured the attention of fans worldwide. The song debuted alongside a vibrant music video showcasing the two artists dressed in matching retro country-Western outfits, with Gaga at the piano and Mars playing the guitar.
The heartfelt chorus expresses a poignant sentiment: “If the world was ending, I’d wanna be next to you / If the party was over, and our time on Earth was through / I’d wanna hold you just for a while / And die with a smile.”
In a statement about the collaboration, Gaga shared her admiration for Mars, noting their mutual respect for each other. She recalled how the song originated during a late-night visit to his studio while she was finalizing her own album in Malibu. “Bruno’s talent is beyond explanation. His musicianship and vision are next level. There’s no one like him,” she remarked.
Mars echoed her sentiments, expressing his honor in working with Gaga and emphasizing the magic she brings to the song. The duo had teased their collaboration in the days prior to the release, with playful nods to each other, including wearing shirts featuring one another.
On August 15, they revealed the single’s artwork, showcasing the distinctive outfits from the video. Gaga clarified in her caption that “Die with a Smile” is not part of her forthcoming album, stating, “WHILE YOU WAIT TILL LG7…’DIE WITH A SMILE’ a duet with @brunomars.”
