Gable Steveson, widely recognized for his remarkable achievements in wrestling, continues his athletic journey by venturing into dirty boxing. Steveson is set to compete against Billy Swanson on October 30 in Nashville as part of the Dirty Boxing Championship’s fourth event (DBX4).
A formidable force in collegiate wrestling, Steveson made his mark in the 285-pound division during his tenure at the University of Minnesota. His accolades include being a five-time All-American, a four-time Big Ten champion, and a two-time national champion. Additionally, he was honored twice with the Dan Hodge Trophy, an award given to the nation’s best college wrestler.
On the international front, Steveson clinched an Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics in the 125-kilogram category. His impressive prowess on the mat led him to explore other arenas, such as WWE, where he signed a contract and trained at the WWE Performance Center beginning in 2022. However, after wrestling a televised match at NXT Great American Bash in 2023, he was released in May 2024.
Transitioning to another sport, Steveson briefly joined the NFL, signing with the Buffalo Bills in 2024 as a defensive tackle. Though he experienced training camp and some preseason play, he was released before the regular season commenced.
Resuming his collegiate wrestling career, Steveson returned to the University of Minnesota, where he continued to dominate, claiming another Big Ten title. Despite reaching the national championship, he was narrowly defeated by Wyatt Hendrickson from Oklahoma State.
Steveson’s entry into mixed martial arts has been promising. In his MMA debut at Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) 217 in September, he showcased his abilities with a swift technical knockout over Braden Peterson.
Now, as he steps into the world of dirty boxing, fans and enthusiasts are eager to see how Steveson’s wrestling foundation will translate into this new challenge. His journey reflects a relentless pursuit of sporting excellence and adaptability across diverse athletic platforms.
