Future Stars: Meet the MLB Prospects Set to Shine

As the MLB draft approaches and June comes to a close, fantasy baseball enthusiasts continue to scour for promising prospects. This week, RoboScout has identified several standout players worth noting.

Reds outfielder Pablo Nunez has made headlines with a remarkable 1.3% strikeout rate and an impressive 27% walk rate. Although the 18-year-old is repeating the Dominican Summer League (DSL), his elite contact skills and 87% contact rate from last year make him a player to watch as he transitions stateside.

Nationals shortstop Marconi German is another exciting prospect, showcasing a blend of power and speed with three home runs and 12 stolen bases in 79 plate appearances. At just 17 years old, the switch-hitter has a strong chance of sticking at shortstop, making him an appealing fantasy asset.

Mets shortstop Yorber Semprun ranks among the top 17-year-olds in wRC+, with a noteworthy blend of walks and speed, posting eight stolen bases to accompany his solid batting stats. In contrast, teammate Elian Pena has made headlines by hitting three home runs in a single game this week, reviving the promise seen in him as one of the top international prospects.

The Marlins drafted Anthony Abreu in 2024, and he’s shown growth this season, hitting four home runs and three stolen bases, although a concerning 32% strikeout rate may need addressing going forward.

In the Complex Leagues, players like Orioles outfielder Stiven Martinez and Dodgers third baseman Chase Harlan have impressed in recent weeks, with Martinez increasing his wRC+ significantly while maintaining a low strikeout rate. Harlan has similarly excelled, with all his home runs this month indicating a potential breakout.

High-A and Double-A levels have produced standout hitters, too. Tigers’ infielder Kevin McGonigle has a phenomenal wRC+ of 206, while Mariners outfielder Lazaro Montes has made a strong impact upon his promotion to Double-A, blasting three home runs in just five games.

Prospects such as Gage Stanifer and Travis Sykora have excelled on the pitching front in High-A, both making their case for potential future majors.

These rising stars suggest an optimistic outlook for the future of their respective franchises, with many demonstrating the potential to impact Major League rosters sooner rather than later. The upcoming draft will add another layer of talent to watch for in the coming months.
