Future Star: Lincoln Goaltender William Prowse Commits to Princeton Hockey

William Prowse, the goaltender for the Lincoln Stars, has declared his commitment to play collegiate hockey at Princeton University, joining the NCAA Division I program within the ECAC Hockey Conference. The 18-year-old athlete boasts a record of 8-2-1, with an impressive 2.60 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage across 14 games this season. Prowse ranks ninth in the USHL for goals-against average and has helped Lincoln earn at least one point in eight out of ten of his starts.

Before joining the Stars, Prowse showcased his talent in prep hockey at Holderness School in New Hampshire and spent two seasons with the Rocky Mountain Roughriders AAA program. Expressing his gratitude, Prowse stated, “Princeton has been so great to me since the beginning. Their coaching staff is amazing and was a key part of the decision. Princeton has incredible athletic facilities and an unbelievable education I couldn’t say no to.” He thanked his coaches and family for their unwavering support throughout his journey.

Currently, Princeton’s hockey team has opened its 2024-25 season with a 6-6-1 record, including noteworthy victories against No. 12 Ohio State. The team has a history of success, having reached the NCAA Tournament four times since 2018, and it is guided by first-year head coach Ben Syer.

“William has earned the opportunity to be a student-athlete at such a prestigious university through a combination of work ethic, compete level, and consistency in his habits,” said Stars head coach Rocky Russo. “He will be a tremendous addition to the Princeton hockey program and the academic community.”

Fans can catch Prowse and the Stars in action during two home games against USA Hockey NTDP this weekend, with games scheduled for Friday at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday at 6:05 p.m. at the Ice Box. Tickets are available for purchase through the team’s website.

This commitment highlights Prowse’s hard work and determination, showcasing a bright future for him at both Princeton and in the collegiate hockey landscape. His journey reflects the pathway of many young athletes pursuing excellence in sports and academics.
