According to Chael Sonnen, a fellow MMA athlete, Askren, affectionately known as “Funky,” is in critical condition and requires a lung transplant.
Askren’s wife, Amy, confirmed that he is currently unable to respond, and the family is asking for prayers during this challenging time. Sonnen emphasized the family’s priority was to bring Askren back to Wisconsin, where they hoped to be together should the situation become dire.
