Fiji Rugby Union CEO Koli Sewabu has chosen not to elaborate on the significant loss of over $21,000 incurred during the recent Pacific Nations Cup match between the Flying Fijians and Tonga. This financial setback came to the forefront following the release of a payment reconciliation document for the Skipper Cup final from the Fiji Sports Council to the FRU, which was obtained by Times Sport.

When approached for further details regarding the financial loss, Sewabu declined to comment, stating, “No further comments.” He did, however, mention that a great deal was discussed during the recent General Assembly, where matters raised by member unions were considered.

Ongoing reviews are currently in progress, as the FRU prepares for the initial rounds of consultations scheduled for January, although the exact date has yet to be finalized. Sewabu expressed a desire to shift focus toward future goals, emphasizing, “Time to move on and focus on 2026.”

Despite the financial challenges faced, there is a sense of optimism within the FRU leadership, signaling a commitment to recovery and improvement in the coming years.
