Frozen waffles sold in well-known retailers throughout the United States are being recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria.

TreeHouse Foods, based in Illinois, has voluntarily recalled certain frozen waffle products after detecting the potential for Listeria monocytogenes contamination during production, according to a release from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on October 18.

These frozen waffles are available at major stores, including Walmart, Target, Harris Teeter, and Publix, and encompass various brands such as Kodiak, Good & Gather, and Simple Truth.

Consumers can find the complete list of recalled products, including images and UPC codes, in the announcement.

As of now, there have been no confirmed cases of illness related to the affected products, as reported by the company.

TreeHouse Foods has recommended that anyone who has purchased the recalled products should dispose of them and reach out to the retailer for a refund.

The recall was carried out in coordination with the FDA, the announcement stated.

Symptoms associated with Listeria infection can manifest within two weeks of consuming contaminated food, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Common symptoms include:

– Fever
– Flu-like symptoms such as muscle aches and fatigue
– Headache
– Stiff neck
– Confusion
– Loss of balance

The CDC warns that symptoms can become severe, with nearly one in six non-pregnant individuals infected with invasive listeriosis succumbing to the illness.

In pregnant individuals, symptoms are usually mild, with some experiencing no symptoms at all. However, an infection poses risks such as miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, or severe infection in the newborn.
