Fifteen police officers have returned from various United Nations peacekeeping missions, marking a notable occasion for their local community. Among these officers, thirteen served with the UN Mission in South Sudan, while one took part in the Multinational Force and Observers, and another served with the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei.
SSP Ulaiasi Ravula, the Director of International Relations, welcomed the officers on behalf of Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu, praising them for their dedication and professionalism throughout their missions. This acknowledgment underscores the significant contributions these officers have made to global peace and security.
To support their transition back to civilian life, the returning officers are currently participating in a Post Deployment Reintegration Program. This initiative is designed to provide necessary resources and assistance, with the program set to conclude on January 22nd. Such programs are vital for ensuring that the experiences gained during peacekeeping missions can be positively incorporated into local policing efforts.
The return of these officers highlights the vital role that local law enforcement plays not only in their communities but also in the broader context of international cooperation. By fostering an environment that supports reintegration, the community can benefit from the unique skills and insights these officers bring back from their service abroad, enhancing local peacekeeping efforts and community safety.
