Rap artist Toosii is stepping away from his successful music career to pursue his long-held dream of playing football, having announced his commitment to Syracuse University. The 25-year-old artist shared the news via social media on Monday, and a source familiar with the situation confirmed his commitment to The Associated Press on Tuesday, although Syracuse has yet to officially release this information.
While it’s still unclear whether Toosii has received a scholarship or will be joining the team as a walk-on, his excitement is evident. In his post, Toosii, whose real name is Nau’Jour Grainger, encouraged others to chase their dreams, stating, “COMMITTED. For every kid who ever had a dream, make it reality.” He revealed that his decision was influenced by a conversation with Syracuse coach Fran Brown, considering it a divine sign to return to his roots, as he was born and raised in Syracuse before moving to Raleigh, North Carolina.
Toosii’s foray back into football is not entirely new; he previously played as a receiver in high school and began to explore his football aspirations over the summer, including an official visit to the University of Maryland in August. This bold transition showcases not only Toosii’s versatility but also his determination to follow his passion for sports, providing inspiration for young individuals aiming to realize their own dreams, whether in music, athletics, or other fields.
