From Skepticism to Success: How Jaclyn Sienna India Redefined Luxury Travel

Jaclyn Sienna India, who launched her boutique travel concierge, Sienna Charles, in 2008, initially faced skepticism, including from her husband, as she pretended to have a busy clientele. Despite starting with no clients, her strategy of “faking it until you make it” has paid off significantly over the years.

Now, India serves a roster of high-profile clients, including world leaders and celebrities such as Mariah Carey. She caters specifically to individuals who make over $100 million annually, providing them with unique services that go beyond what they could arrange on their own.

India emphasizes the importance of empathy in her work. Drawing on her experiences as a server, she values genuine care in her interactions, stating, “It’s leading from the heart.” The connections she has cultivated in the hospitality industry, which includes a network of over 2,000 contacts, allow her to create personalized travel and dining experiences for her clients.

While aiming to meet her clients’ aspirations, she believes the focus should be on meaningful experiences rather than merely luxurious settings. For example, she opts not to recommend the three-Michelin star French Laundry in Napa, finding alternatives like Single Thread Farms more compelling.

India often creates exclusive events for her clients, such as a candlelight dinner at Versailles or brunch atop the Arc de Triomphe. She also arranges personal meetings with prominent figures, like having breakfast with the Hermes family and lunch with the Fendi family in Rome.

At times, her services cater to simpler comforts, illustrated by her care for former President George W. Bush during his trip to Ethiopia, where she ensured he received peanut butter and non-alcoholic beer. India prides herself on seeking out authentic experiences for her clients, emphasizing that her goal isn’t just lavishness but creating memorable and meaningful moments.
