From MoviePass to New Ventures: Hamet Watt’s Next Big Move

Hamet Watt, co-founder of MoviePass, is moving forward from the company’s notable downfall to launch a new venture studio aimed at developing and funding startups. Watt has established Share Ventures, which has already raised nearly $20 million in funding from investors including Alphabet and Amazon.

The focus of Share Ventures is on startups targeting the future of work and longevity sectors. Watt believes that the current landscape, shaped by the AI boom and high interest rates, offers an opportunity for a unique investment approach. He emphasized that smaller funds can yield significant insights into potential opportunities with less capital.

Watt is integrating advanced software and complex language models within Share Ventures to enhance internal operations. He remarked that many venture firms are financing new technologies but are not utilizing them effectively within their own processes.

His personal experiences, including the loss of his mother at a young age, have influenced his interest in health and longevity. Watt expressed a desire to reflect on life’s fragility and its implications on mortality.

Despite the setbacks from his time with MoviePass—recently portrayed in the documentary “MoviePass, MovieCrash”—Watt remains determined to embrace innovation, stating he is willing to take risks in pursuit of success.
