Rising rugby star Savenaca Durusolo has shared his inspiring journey from village training sessions to the national stage, fueled by hard work and faith. At just 19 years old, the Kadavu fullback is determined to elevate his game in 2025 after recently representing the Fiji Warriors.
Durusolo’s path began with mundane solo training routines on the school grounds in his village, where he dedicated himself to honing his kicking skills. “I was just in the village, and every afternoon and morning I would go for training at the school ground, usually just sharpening my kicking skills,” he recalled. His persistence paid off as he progressed to the Kadavu Under-20 provincial side last year and subsequently gained promotion to the senior team this season.
His selection for the Fiji Warriors reflects his discipline and unwavering belief in divine intervention, as he remarked, “I am grateful to divine intervention for being selected to represent the Fiji Warriors side last month.” As Kadavu prepares for its inaugural season in the Skipper Cup, Durusolo is eager to take on a greater responsibility to help his team succeed on the country’s largest domestic platform. “Next year I will look to elevate my game to another level so I can help lift our team to new heights,” he expressed.
