Love has blossomed into a lifelong commitment for Oliver Frank Turner and Bernadette Raewyn Elliot Turner, who recently celebrated their wedding in Nakasi, surrounded by family and friends. The couple comes from different regions of Fiji: Oliver hails from Wainunu, Bua, with roots in Mokani, Tailevu, while Bernadette originates from Vunavutu Village in Nadroga and has ties to Pepjei and Scotland. Their journey began in 2019 when they met at the Ebenezer Tabernacle Church in Nakasi.
Their deep connection grew as they supported each other through the grieving process after experiencing significant losses. Oliver lost his older brother in 2021, while Bernadette faced the heartbreaking loss of her mother during the same year. This shared experience of sorrow forged a strong bond between them, built on empathy and a mutual understanding of their struggles.
Recalling their first encounter, Bernadette revealed her initial nerves, but she quickly found joy in how effortlessly they connected. “He is my best friend; he holds a special place in my heart,” she expressed. Her faith has played a crucial role in their relationship, instilling in her the belief that their union was meant to be.
