From ‘Faking it’ to High Society: Inside Jaclyn Sienna India’s Luxury Travel World

Jaclyn Sienna India launched her boutique travel concierge, Sienna Charles, in 2008 with the mindset of “faking it until you make it.” Early in her career, she faced skepticism from her husband as she received requests from potential clients who had seen her articles about travel services, despite not having any actual clients at the time.

Fast forward sixteen years, India’s strategy has proved successful. Her impressive roster now includes global leaders, such as former President George W. Bush, and celebrities like Mariah Carey. She specializes in catering to high-net-worth individuals with annual incomes exceeding $100 million.

According to India, the value she brings is not just about access to exclusive venues but the personal touch that comes from genuinely caring for her clients. Her background as a server for five years helped her understand people’s needs and preferences.

Sienna Charles maintains an extensive network of over 2,000 contacts within the hospitality sector, granting her the ability to craft unique travel and dining experiences for her clientele. India adeptly interprets her clients’ desires, offering tailored solutions that they might not have the time or resources to pursue themselves.

She prioritizes meaningful experiences over sheer luxury. For instance, while she could arrange reservations at renowned restaurants like the French Laundry in Napa, she believes that alternative dining spots, such as Single Thread Farms, offer more interesting experiences.

India has orchestrated remarkable events for her clients, including a candlelight dinner at Versailles and brunch atop the Arc de Triomphe. Additionally, she has facilitated encounters with notable figures, such as arranging meals with the Hermes and Fendi families.

At times, her services cater to simpler comforts. When President Bush visited Ethiopia, she ensured he had familiar favorites like peanut butter and non-alcoholic beer, along with a warm welcome from local children wearing Texas Rangers caps.

India emphasizes her belief in the importance of authentic experiences, stating, “The world is not just luxury. The world is not just fancy experiences. It’s everything,” reflecting her commitment to offering her clients a well-rounded approach to travel.
