International rugby referee Rasta Rasivhenge has praised Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau for his impressive transition from player to coach. Describing Kolinisau’s development as “phenomenal,” Rasivhenge highlighted the gold medallist’s ability to adapt and thrive in his new role after previously captaining the Fiji 7s team.
Having worked with Kolinisau since 2008, Rasivhenge noted that the coach’s deep understanding of the game, complemented by his experiences under former coaches Gareth Baber and Ben Ryan, has significantly influenced his coaching style. This experience is expected to be an asset as the team prepares for the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Rasivhenge commended Kolinisau for integrating many young players into the squad, emphasizing the importance of teaching them the structures necessary to perform at elite levels. He showcased this commitment by leading his team to compete at the Rooster Chicken Grassroots Sevens Tournament held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, providing players with valuable exposure to high-performance rugby.
With Kolinisau’s leadership and keen eye for nurturing talent, the future looks promising for the Fiji men’s 7s team as they aim to build on their success and continue their legacy in international rugby.
