The Frisco community is in mourning following the tragic death of 16-year-old Grace “Gracie” Brito, who passed away on Tuesday night after being on life support due to a sledding accident that claimed the life of her best friend, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Angle. The incident occurred on Sunday when the two girls were riding on a sled pulled by a Jeep Wrangler driven by another teenager. The sled collided with a curb and then struck a tree, resulting in both girls being taken to the hospital. Sadly, Angle did not survive, and Brito’s family announced late Tuesday that she had also passed away.

Tracy Brito, Grace’s mother, shared the profound grief experienced by their family of four, which includes her husband and their younger daughter Emma, a freshman at LSU. In her poignant statement, she described her daughter as a “kind and generous soul, full of love, affection, and warmth,” highlighting Grace’s compassion and her instinct to care for others. Just recently, Grace had earned her driver’s license and was proud to register as an organ donor—a wish the family plans to honor.

Grace was an All-Star cheerleader with Express Cheer in Frisco, where she practiced tirelessly and formed lasting bonds with her teammates and coaches. Her mother noted that Grace valued teamwork and friendship, always striving to lift others up. She was remembered as a creative, strong-minded, and bubbly individual.

The family has faced an incredibly challenging journey since the accident, leaning on their faith and the support of their community during this difficult time. They expressed heartfelt gratitude for the prayers and compassion they have received from friends, relatives, and the wider community.

Tracy Brito also revealed the deep connection between Grace and Lizzie Angle, mentioning that they were often inseparable, spending time together regularly. As they navigate this heartbreaking period, the family has requested privacy to grieve and to honor Grace’s life. Tracy poignantly reflected, “We will miss her till the day we die. She is our guardian angel now. #GraceStrongForever.”

This tragic event has united the community as they come together to support the Brito family and celebrate the lives of both Gracie and Lizzie, reinforcing the importance of love and connection amid sorrow.
