Originally from Olathe, Kansas, Cy’s early life was defined by her active participation in various sports and the close-knit support of her family and friends. Her love for volleyball flourished at Heritage Christian Academy, where she not only stood out as a top player in Kansas but also accumulated an impressive array of accolades, including state championships throughout her high school years. Her fondest memories stem from the camaraderie built with her teammates during these successful seasons.

Cy’s decision to attend Wake Forest came early in her recruiting journey—by July 2022, she was committed to making the nearly 1,000-mile journey from home. Adjusting to life in Winston-Salem, she noted the warmer climate compared to her hometown, while also appreciating Wake Forest’s inclusive environment and its Pro Humanitate motto.

As a member of a freshmen trio on the volleyball team, Cy is adapting to the collegiate level of play, which she describes as more intense and analytical compared to high school. She is learning to study opponents in-depth and modify her gameplay accordingly—a critical skill for succeeding in college athletics.
