Elder Gérald Caussé has been officially called to serve in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His calling took place on Thursday, where he was ordained by President Dallin H. Oaks, along with the other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
In a statement released to the public, Caussé expressed his deep faith and commitment, stating, “I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. He’s always been at the center of my life. I know Jesus Christ lives. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That’s the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives.”
The church emphasizes that Apostles fulfill the role of “special witnesses of the name of Christ throughout the world.” In addition to their spiritual mission, they are tasked with important administrative duties that help oversee the functioning and growth of the global Church.
Elder Caussé, who hails from Bordeaux, France, is stepping into this pivotal role at the age of 62, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to his faith and community. His appointment comes as the Church continues to expand and reach diverse populations across the globe, ensuring that the teachings of Jesus Christ remain central to its mission.
