Cincinnati residents will have the opportunity to enjoy complimentary movie screenings this Sunday, thanks in part to the legacy of famous director Steven Spielberg, a Cincinnati native. Cinemark Theatres will present the “Steven Spielberg Fest in Cincinnati” on March 1, showcasing a selection of films that feature a connection to Ohio.
This event is part of a larger initiative called Ohio Goes to the Movies, which celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with over 250 free movie events occurring across the Buckeye State throughout 2026. The initiative aims to honor Ohio’s rich cinematic history while providing community entertainment.
In addition to the Spielberg film screenings, another special event—Rob Lowe Fest—will take place in the Dayton area, featuring free showings of three of Lowe’s movies, including his breakout role in “The Outsiders.”
Cinemark has scheduled multiple screenings across various locations for both events. The films featured in the Steven Spielberg Fest include “Hook” at Cinemark Milford, “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” at Cinemark Western Hills, and “The Color Purple” at Cinemark Oakley Station. Meanwhile, Rob Lowe Fest will showcase “The Outsiders” at Cinemark The Greene, “Wayne’s World” at Cinemark Huber Heights, and “Tommy Boy” at Cinemark Dayton South and Sandusky’s Cinemark Stadium.
For those interested in attending, more details regarding locations and screening times can be found at ohiogoestothemovies.org/ogttmevents/.
This initiative not only highlights the works of legendary filmmakers from Ohio but also encourages community engagement and celebration of the arts during this milestone year.
