The Extra Futsal IDC has officially commenced today at the Vodafone Arena, offering free entry for fans to all matches throughout the tournament. This initiative is designed to boost community support for local futsal and provide an opportunity for fans to witness high-level competition in person.
Anushil Kumar, the General Manager Operations of the Fiji Football Association, remarked that this year’s Extra Futsal League has been particularly challenging, with several strong clubs failing to qualify. Kumar also praised the remarkable performance of Rakiraki Futsal, who finished just behind Lautoka in the western zone, earning their place in the national finals.
The tournament kicked off with an engaging lineup of five matches. The opening match featured Tailevu/Naitasiri Futsal against Rakiraki Futsal, starting at 2:30 PM. This was followed by a matchup between Suva Futsal and Nasinu Futsal at 4 PM. The official opening ceremony took place at 5:30 PM, leading into a clash between Lami Futsal and Lautoka Futsal at 6 PM, and wrapping up the evening was Ba Futsal’s game against Labasa Futsal at 7:30 PM.
With the IDC running from November 13 to 16, fans can expect a week filled with thrilling matches showcasing the best futsal talent in the region. The championship not only highlights athletic skill but also fosters community spirit, bringing together local neighborhoods through the love of the sport.
