Fox has announced that it will be expanding two of its popular game shows: “The Floor,” hosted by Rob Lowe, and the survival competition series “Extracted.”
“Extracted” will return for a second season, while “The Floor” has been renewed for both fourth and fifth seasons. The show “Extracted” features 12 untrained competitors who face the harsh conditions and treacherous terrain of the Canadian wilderness. Each competitor’s fate is influenced by their family members who monitor their struggles from a remote headquarters. Families can decide whether to let their loved one continue the contest or push an “Extract” button to withdraw them, adding a tense psychological element to the competition. This format puts families in a unique position, questioning how far they are willing to let their loved ones go for a $250,000 prize.
Produced by B17 Entertainment and Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions, “Extracted” had a highly successful debut in February and concluded its first season in April, attracting significant viewership and becoming the highest-rated unscripted series debut in roughly a year.
On the other hand, “The Floor” challenges contestants with its interactive game format that combines trivia and strategy. Contestants must battle against each other to gain territory on a massive LED game floor, with the goal of controlling the board to win the grand prize of $250,000. The show, which first aired in January 2024, quickly gained popularity, leading to its early renewals and the impressive viewership for its Season 3 premiere.
Both series showcase a blend of competition and psychological strategy, appealing to a wide audience eager for engaging and dynamic entertainment. These renewals not only confirm the network’s trust in the show’s formats but also promise to continue delivering thrilling content for viewers.
