Four Rising Stars Promoted by Fijian Drua for 2026 Super Rugby Pacific

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has announced the promotion of four development players to its main squad for the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, a move celebrated by head coach Glen Jackson. Wingers Isikeli Basiyalo and Aisea Nawai, center Maika Tuitubou, and hooker Kavaia Tagivetaua have all signed full-time multi-year contracts, making them eligible for selection in the match-day 23.

Jackson expressed pride in their hard work leading to this significant upgrade, stating, “It’s brilliant for them and bolsters our squad significantly. All of them are raring to go and fight for spots in the matchday 23 every week.”

Basiyalo’s rise follows a successful stint with the development team, as well as his participation with the Fiji Airways men’s 7s team at the Hong Kong 7s earlier this year. Similarly, Nawai shares a comparable journey, having also played for the Fiji U20 team and participated in the earlier tournament. Tuitubou, entering his rookie season as an outside center, is expected to be a key player to watch. Tagivetaua has already gained valuable experience, serving as captain of the Fiji U20 side during the 2023 World Cup Championship and being part of the FIJI Water Flying Fijians 2025 squad.

As part of this announcement, the full squad for the upcoming season includes a blend of seasoned and emerging talent across all positions. The Drua’s commitment to nurturing local talent while integrating experienced players is emphasized as a strategy to foster a competitive edge in the Super Rugby landscape. This focus not only highlights the depth and skill within Fijian rugby but also promises an exciting and successful season ahead for fans and supporters alike.

The squad will feature a mixture of experience and youth, with expectations set high for an impactful season in the Super Rugby Pacific arena. Fans can look forward to witnessing the growth and development of both new and returning players as the Drua approaches the upcoming championship.
