Women in Tech Fiji has introduced a pioneering upskilling initiative designed to empower women in technology and entrepreneurship, called Found Her. This program is notable as it represents the first startup incubation and investor training opportunity in the country specifically aimed at women.
Sujata Lodhia, the Startups Program Lead, explained that the primary goal of this training program is to develop a new generation of local investors who can identify innovation and recognize the potential of women-led enterprises. Participants will engage in a series of workshops, mentorship sessions, and practical exercises that emphasize entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment readiness throughout the week.
Scheduled to occur in Suva next month, the program will offer extensive training and conclude with sessions that allow participants to connect with potential investors and support partners. This engagement is designed to provide the necessary funding and networking opportunities to help turn innovative ideas into viable businesses.
Applications for the program are currently being accepted through Women in Tech Fiji’s official Facebook and LinkedIn pages, giving interested women the chance to participate in this transformative experience.
This initiative is part of Fiji’s broader efforts to enhance gender equality in the technology sector, following other significant initiatives such as the recent launch of the Women in Tech chapter under the guidance of Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica. These efforts are aimed at addressing gender imbalances in STEM fields and boosting the involvement of women in the local tech scene.
As Fiji continues to encourage women’s participation in technology, programs like Found Her not only promote individual advancement but also strengthen the overall economic framework, fostering a culture of innovation and resilience. This focus on empowering women as essential contributors to a dynamic digital economy presents a hopeful outlook for the future of women in technology within the region.
