Forza Horizon 6 News Likely on Hold as Xbox Showcase Approaches

On June 8th, Xbox will hold its highly anticipated Summer Game Showcase, where fans can look forward to updates on upcoming games for Microsoft’s platform and potentially others. As excitement builds, several leaks have surfaced regarding the event. However, one area generating curiosity is Playground Games’ Forza division, which has remained relatively silent. With half of its team focused on the development of Fable and a notable four-year gap since the last Forza Horizon release, gaming enthusiasts are eager for news about Forza Horizon 6.

Recent leaks from Xbox leaker Extas1s on YouTube suggest that Playground Games will participate in the Showcase but will not unveil Forza Horizon 6. Instead, the studio is reportedly concentrating its efforts on Fable, which has generated significant anticipation from RPG fans. Although this news may disappoint racing enthusiasts, it’s understandable given the excitement surrounding Fable’s release.

The last installment of Forza Horizon launched in 2021. Historically, the gap between Forza Horizon 4 and 5 was around three years. Currently, gamers find themselves in a longer wait than expected. Although Forza Motorsport 7 was released in 2023, it is developed by a different team that specializes in a different aspect of racing. The timing of these releases typically allows both franchises to thrive without overlapping.

Additionally, Forza Horizon 5 received extensive post-launch support, contributing to its prolonged lifecycle. Extas1s indicated that Forza Horizon 6 is still in the early development stages, with no clear timeline on when it might be officially revealed, suggesting that fans could be waiting a year or longer for its release.

On a brighter note, the Xbox Showcase promises a wealth of new game announcements. Confirmed highlights include The Outer Wilds 2, which is expected to have a dedicated showcase, as well as more information about Fable—slated for a 2026 release. Other rumored titles include Ninja Gaiden 4, Perfect Dark, and The Elder Scrolls 6, leaving room for unexpected surprises.

Gamers should mark their calendars to tune into the Xbox Showcase on June 8th at 1 PM ET, as it will undoubtedly provide exciting new insights into the future of Microsoft gaming.
