The excitement is palpable as the cast and crew of “Landman” return to Fort Worth less than two weeks ahead of the highly-anticipated second season premiere. On Thursday, November 6, the Lone Star Film Festival hosted a sold-out screening of the first episode of the new season at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, complete with a glamorous red carpet event that drew several key cast members.
Billy Bob Thornton, the series’ lead, expressed his affection for Fort Worth, describing it as his favorite city in Texas. “I just feel at home here, always have,” he shared with the Star-Telegram. With the show filming in Fort Worth for several months, he couldn’t imagine a better place to spend his time.
Newcomer to the series, Sam Elliott, who portrays Thornton’s father this season, echoed the sentiment of enjoying his time in the area. Having previously filmed in Fort Worth during the “Yellowstone” prequel “1883,” Elliott described working with Thornton as a rewarding experience. “Working with Billy Bob Thornton, it doesn’t get any better for another actor,” he said.
Michelle Randolph, who plays Ainsley Norris, noted that Fort Worth has become a “second home” for her over the course of the filming. She has enjoyed exploring the local dining scene, frequently visiting her favorite spots such as The Shops of Clearfork.
James Jordan, who plays Dale and has a unique connection with the city, spends about nine months a year there due to his work with Taylor Sheridan on multiple projects. He praised Fort Worth’s welcoming atmosphere, saying, “The people have been so accommodating and welcoming to allow our big show to come out here.”
The cast also shared their favorite local dining options as they explored the city. Co-creator Christian Wallace highlighted Gustos Burger Bar + More for its delicious burgers and recommended local bars like Nickel City and The Durty Crow. Paulina Chavez, who portrays Ariana, expressed her love for Italian cuisine at 61 Osteria and sushi at Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar, with Jordan agreeing on the former as a favorite.
As the premiere date of “Landman” season 2 approaches, set for November 16 on Paramount+, the connections the cast have formed with Fort Worth and its vibrant culture are evident. With their fondness for the city and its offerings, the cast looks forward to continuing their journey in Fort Worth, creating lasting memories both on and off the screen.
