Former Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, is scheduled for a hearing next month regarding legal charges he faces. This morning, his case was brought before Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull at the High Court in Suva.

Prof Prasad is confronting a count of failure to comply with statutory disclosure requirements stemming from an incident in 2015. Furthermore, he is charged with providing false information in a statutory declaration, specifically for allegedly submitting a declaration that failed to disclose his directorship.

Justice Bull is overseeing the application for a permanent stay filed by Prof Prasad, who is represented by Senior Lawyer Richard Naidu from Munro Leys. The proceedings have been adjourned, with the next hearing set for January 15.

This legal development underscores the ongoing scrutiny faced by public officials regarding adherence to disclosure laws, highlighting the importance of transparency in governance.
