Former Acting Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service, Sevuloni Naucikidi, appeared in court today to face a charge of criminal intimidation. The hearing took place under Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne, where Naucikidi’s defense team sought representation from attorney Tanya Waqanika.

During the court proceedings, it was highlighted that the application for legal counsel is still pending, prompting the defense to request additional time. Magistrate Somaratne responded by granting a one-month adjournment, which provides not only the defense an opportunity to secure representation but also allows the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to prepare and file the necessary pre-trial conference documents.

The case is set to be revisited on February 23. This adjournment may facilitate clearer communication and preparation for all parties involved, fostering a more efficient judicial process and ensuring that the rights of the accused are adequately protected.
