The Fiji National University (FNU) has proudly held its inaugural roadshow in Somosomo, Taveuni, marking a significant step in its ongoing effort to extend accessible, high-quality higher education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to the remote and rural areas of Fiji. This initiative reflects FNU’s dedication to bringing educational opportunities directly to Fijians living far from urban centers.
Students like Maria Tonina Manabua from Villamaria Settlement in Bouma were among the earliest attendees. She expressed her excitement upon receiving her offer letter to pursue a Bachelor of Education at FNU, saying, “I am so excited to go home with my offer letter to pursue a Bachelor of Education at FNU. I waited for the FNU team from early morning because I did not want to miss this opportunity to study with the best.”
Soro Vakagone also shared her enthusiasm for her educational advancement after receiving an offer for the same program. “It was a really good feeling to receive my offer letter, and I will be studying for a Bachelor of Education this year,” she remarked, highlighting the moment’s significance for her academic journey.
The FNU Roadshow has garnered praise from students nationwide, as it provides a crucial platform for them to raise questions and address any concerns about pursuing their education at the university. This hands-on approach not only fosters educational accessibility but also empowers students to take charge of their future.
FNU’s commitment to reaching all corners of the nation is a step towards a brighter future for many aspiring students, ensuring that quality education is no longer limited by geographic boundaries. The enthusiasm and excitement surrounding these roadshows serve as a testament to the positive impact they are creating within the Fijian community.
