The Fiji National University (FNU) has officially dismissed allegations that its Council Chairman, Semesa Karavaki, was prohibited from accessing his office. The university clarified that there are no access restrictions placed on Council members or senior management across its campuses.

In a statement released recently, FNU emphasized that its Council members and management maintain full and unrestricted access to all university facilities throughout its 17 campuses located nationwide. The university reiterated that there are no limitations for Council members as they carry out their official responsibilities.

While acknowledging an increase in security personnel across its facilities, FNU reassured the public that these measures are precautionary and directly correlated to an uptick in theft and other security-related incidents occurring on campus. The objective of heightened security is to protect students, staff, visitors, and university property.

The university confirmed that the implementation of these enhanced security measures does not interfere with the authorized access of Council members and senior leadership conducting their duties. “All authorized personnel, including Council members and senior management, continue to have full access to all FNU campuses in the normal course of their duties,” the university stated.

FNU reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment while enhancing its governance practices. The institution remains committed to transparency and effective governance as it prioritizes the security and well-being of its community.
