Rewa Rugby Union’s dedication to grassroots development has been rewarded with a significant sponsorship agreement with Flour Mills of Fiji (FMF) for the upcoming rugby season. The deal was officially finalized yesterday at FMF’s headquarters in Walu Bay, Suva.
This collaboration reflects FMF’s commitment to giving back to the community through a rugby club that embodies the brand’s resilient values. “Looking at their proposal, something that really touched us was that without a sponsorship, they made every effort. The team and the union ensured that the players did not give up,” remarked Group Marketing Manager Maria Kumar.
In its over 30-year history, this marks a milestone for Rewa Rugby Union as it secures sponsorship across all levels of its rugby operations, encompassing the club competition, U20s, senior women’s, and senior men’s teams in the upcoming Vanua Championship.
Club President Ro Macanawai Mataitini expressed heartfelt gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing its importance: “This partnership will directly strengthen our programs, support our players and coaches, and help us grow the game in the right way.” The Rewa Rugby season is set to kick off on March 21 with the FMF Rewa 10s tournament, promising an exciting start to the rugby calendar.
This sponsorship is a significant step towards enhancing the growth of rugby in the region and showcases the importance of community support in sports development. As Rewa Rugby Union embarks on this new chapter, it symbolizes hope and progress for players and fans alike.
