Nanumiau emerged triumphant in the FMF Navosa Netball Tournament, taking home the championship title after a closely contested final match against Qwalimavua, which ended with a score of 11–8. The tournament, held over two days at Vatureba Ground, showcased impressive skills and fierce competition, culminating in an exhilarating final that thrilled spectators.

In the semi-finals, Nanumiau advanced to the final by narrowly defeating Henibua 10–8, while Qwalimavua secured their place after a tight 9–7 victory over Heni Ivi. The tournament, organized by Judy Kumar, witnessed participation from 20 teams and received support from FMF Navosa Netball and Navosa Rugby. Kumar expressed her enthusiasm about the event’s success, praising the competitive spirit displayed throughout the matches. “It was an exciting tournament with very competitive netball played throughout,” she noted.

A highlight of the tournament was the exceptional performance of legendary player Elenoa Vatureba, whose contributions energized both fans and competing teams alike. Apart from clinching the main cup, Nanumiau also captured the Best Qualifier 1 award following a closely fought battle against the younger Qwalivula 1 team, led by coach Sadam Bainivalu.

The victory of Nanumiau was significantly bolstered by the guidance of former Fiji Pearls squad members Robyn Vula and Chivalele, alongside other seasoned senior players who played crucial roles in steering the team towards their commendable win. This tournament not only highlighted individual talents but also strengthened community ties and fostered camaraderie among the participating teams. The positive atmosphere and sportsmanship displayed throughout the event leave hope for continued development of netball in the region.
