GAINESVILLE, Fla.—In a surprising turn of events, former Auburn wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. has reversed his decision to enter the NFL Draft and will instead pursue an opportunity in the NCAA Transfer Portal, with the Florida Gators emerging as the frontrunners for his services.

Remarkably, shortly after Singleton Jr. entered the portal on Friday, analysts from On3, including Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong, predicted that he would choose Florida. With one year of eligibility remaining following his time at Auburn under current Gators receivers coach Marcus Davis, Singleton Jr. could be a significant addition to Florida’s roster. His prior experience at Georgia Tech, where he played under now-offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, adds to his familiarity with the Gators’ coaching staff.

With a standout college career, Singleton Jr. has consistently proven his offensive prowess, boasting three consecutive seasons with over 500 receiving yards and three touchdowns. To date, he has accumulated 162 receptions for 2,002 yards and 12 touchdowns, making him one of the most sought-after transfer receivers in the nation.

If he commits to the Gators, Singleton Jr. is expected to contribute as their third starting wide receiver, bolstered by recent additions to the team, including Wake Forest transfer Micah Mays Jr., Georgia Tech transfer Bailey Stockton, and the retention of Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III. Florida has also brought in high school prospects Davian Groce, Justin Williams, and Marquez Daniel as part of their commitment strategy.

As Florida continues to strengthen its roster, they have successfully added 18 transfers through the portal thus far. With the transfer window set to close on January 16, the Gators are likely to remain active in their pursuit of top talent to enhance their chances in the upcoming season.
