The Korovisilou Health Centre has been temporarily closed due to flash floods that have affected both the facility and the adjacent staff quarters, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services. The health centre is expected to remain closed until Tuesday, February 3, 2026, to allow sufficient time for cleaning and decontamination, following an on-site assessment of the damage.

In the interim, essential health services including emergency care, antenatal and postnatal services, and birthing assistance have been redirected to Navua Hospital. Residents in the Korovisilou, Nakorovou, Yarawa, Navulivatu, and Serua Island areas are encouraged to visit Galoa Nursing Station for necessary healthcare. Meanwhile, individuals from Vunaniu, Navutulevu, Naboutini, and Nabukelevu should seek care at the Korolevu Health Centre.

To mitigate the impact of the closure, mobile “health on wheels” clinics are being arranged by the Serua/Namosi health team, with schedules set to be released soon. Cleanup operations are being assisted by the National Fire Authority alongside the office of the Serua Provincial Administrator, demonstrating a collaborative community effort in response to this challenge. This proactive approach aims to ensure that residents continue to receive necessary healthcare services despite the disruptions caused by the flooding.
