The Korovisilou Health Centre is temporarily closed following flash floods that have significantly impacted the facility and its staff quarters, as announced by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services. The closure is expected to last until Tuesday, February 3, 2026, to allow for thorough cleaning and decontamination after assessing the damage on-site.
During this period, essential health services, including emergency care, antenatal and postnatal services, and birthing assistance, have been redirected to Navua Hospital. Residents in the surrounding areas, including Korovisilou, Nakorovou, Yarawa, Navulivatu, and Serua Island, are advised to seek healthcare at the Galoa Nursing Station. Meanwhile, those from Vunaniu, Navutulevu, Naboutini, and Nabukelevu are directed to the Korolevu Health Centre for their medical needs.
To lessen the impact of the closure, the Serua/Namosi health team is organizing mobile “health on wheels” clinics, with schedules to be announced shortly. In addition, cleanup efforts are supported by the National Fire Authority in conjunction with the office of the Serua Provincial Administrator, reflecting a strong community collaboration to address the challenges posed by the flooding. This proactive response is aimed at ensuring that residents continue to have access to essential healthcare services despite the disruptions.
