Major international airlines, including Delta, Air Canada, Emirates, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, KLM, and Swiss, have recently suspended or adjusted numerous flights due to rising tensions between Israel, the United States, and Iran. This decision follows significant airspace closures and a heightened focus on passenger safety amid escalating geopolitical turmoil.

Early Sunday, Israel closed its airspace for inbound and outbound flights due to the growing unrest, which was quickly mirrored by Iran’s declaration of similar restrictions. Affected by these developments, Iraq suspended all civilian flights the previous week, creating a ripple effect for international travel as airlines are compelled to adapt their routes accordingly. This has resulted in numerous cancellations and delays affecting both regional and global aviation.

Airlines are prioritizing the safety of their passengers and crew, leading them to implement immediate flight suspensions and cancellations. For instance, Etihad Airways has canceled all flights to Tel Aviv until June 30, 2025, and has also suspended flights to Amman, Jordan. Emirates has halted all services to Amman and Beirut, while Flydubai has suspended services to several Middle Eastern locations, including Iran and Iraq.

In addition, Qatar Airways and Oman Air have significantly modified their flight schedules in response to the changing situation, with Qatar suspending flights to Iran and Iraq and Oman Air canceling all flights to Amman until late 2025.

Internationally, Delta Air Lines projects that flights to or from Tel Aviv may remain affected until August 31, 2025, while United Airlines has blocked flights to Dubai until June 25 and to Tel Aviv until August 1. Similarly, Air Canada has suspended all flights to Tel Aviv until September 8, 2025.

As this geopolitical situation continues to unfold, airlines are adapting their operations to mitigate risks while ensuring that affected travelers have access to rebooking options and refunds. It remains vital for passengers to stay informed on flight statuses and be prepared for ongoing changes to flight schedules.

Travelers should maintain flexibility in their plans and closely monitor updates from airlines as the situation evolves. While the current climate presents challenges, the ongoing adjustments being made by airlines reflect a commitment to passenger safety and the resilience of the aviation industry in navigating such crises.
