Flavor Flav recently voiced his regret over a scoring blunder during his guest-judging stint on “Dancing With the Stars,” which took place on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night. The legendary rapper and member of Public Enemy accidentally awarded influencer Alix Earle and her dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy a score of 9 for their paso doble performance, when he had intended to grant them a perfect 10.
In a subsequent interview, Flav explained that the miscalculation was unintentional, saying, “I really wanted to give them a 10, but they wouldn’t let me change it.” He described the scoring system as a locked computer entry that left him unable to correct the mistake once it was submitted, expressing his frustration over the situation. Despite the slip, the pair’s overall score of 39 out of 40 was commendable, although Flav’s score stood in stark contrast to the perfect tens awarded by other judges, including Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli.
After the episode aired, Flav took to social media to apologize, and Earle responded graciously, demonstrating her good humor despite the discrepancy. This incident also marked the second straight week that a guest judge’s scoring interfered with the couple’s chance for a perfect score, following a similar situation with judge Cheryl Burke the previous week.
In addition to Flav’s scoring mishap, the episode featured the elimination of Danielle Fishel after her contemporary dance performance. Fishel reflected positively on her journey throughout the competition, describing it as transformative and filled with joy.
“Dancing With the Stars” continues to engage audiences with its unique blend of artistry, competition, and unexpected twists. Fans can watch the series every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, with new episodes available for streaming on Hulu the next day.
Flav’s guest appearance underscores the unpredictable excitement of live television, showcasing how even small mistakes can spark memorable moments that resonate with viewers, adding to the rich tapestry of reality competition shows.
