Flavor Flav recently expressed regret for the scoring mishap during his guest-judging appearance on “Dancing With the Stars,” which aired on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night. The famed rapper and Public Enemy star surprised the audience by awarding influencer Alix Earle and her professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy a score of 9 for their paso doble performance instead of the intended perfect 10.
In an interview, Flav clarified that his scoring slip was an accident, stating, “I really wanted to give them a 10, but they wouldn’t let me change it.” He explained that the scoring system involved a computer entry that was locked once submitted, leaving him frustrated by the error. Despite his intentions, the pair’s combined score of 39 out of 40 was still impressive, but Flav’s low score contrasted sharply with the perfect tens awarded by the other judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli.
After the show, Flav took to social media to reiterate that the mistake was unintentional. He shared an apology with Alix, who took his scoring in stride. This incident marked the second consecutive week that a guest judge prevented the couple from achieving a perfect score, following a similar occurrence the week prior with Cheryl Burke.
In a night full of surprises, “Dancing With the Stars” also saw Danielle Fishel eliminated following her contemporary performance. Reflecting on her experience, Fishel revealed that participating in the competition had been a transformative journey filled with joy.
“Dancing With the Stars” continues to captivate audiences with its blend of talent, competition, and behind-the-scenes drama. Viewers can catch the show every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, with episodes available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
The enthusiastic response to Flav’s guest judging highlights the unpredictable nature of live performances, where even minor errors can lead to engaging stories and memorable moments in reality television.
