The blaze was reported just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday near the 5000 block of Mount Ariane Terrace, and has since spread to cover approximately 5 acres of land near the Tecolote Golf Course. Firefighters quickly responded, with the first crew arriving at the scene by 5:11 p.m. A total of 49 personnel have been deployed to combat the flames, which are generating large, visible plumes of smoke.
